Dear Festival Friend,

Thank you for participating in the Festival of Faiths this year. Our
celebration of sacred water really struck a chord with the community. More
volunteers from more communities of faith and other organizations were
involved in the planning and execution of the Festival than ever before, and
to those volunteers goes an extra thanks. As a result, over 5000 people like
you came to hear exciting, enriching and engaging speakers or to participate
in fulfilling workshops exploring the issue of water and how it relates to
our faiths, all amid the festive atmosphere created by our Festival Booth
Partners at the Henry Clay Building. Thousands more were reached through
appearances by our guests and volunteers on television, public radio, in
local classrooms, community of faith meetings and other opportunities.

All in all, the Festival was a great success. We look forward to seeing the
fruit of all that positive energy making a difference in the ways we protect
and preserve our water and provide it to those in need for years to come.
In fact, we have already heard that our Faith in Action Award recipient,
EDGE OUTREACH, would like to continue the work of the 2009 Festival by
convening another Water Summit on January 12, 2010. For more information,

.

The Festival of Faiths cannot happen without you and we are grateful for the
part you played. In the meantime, the groundwork is already being laid for
next year's Festival, continuing our focus on the four elements and zeroing
in on our land and soil. Kentucky has such a deep relationship with its
land with a long history of farming and dedication to place and home. Its
rich topography includes the great grasslands on which our magnificent
horses feed, cities where culture thrives, and mountains with communities
sharing long and rich histories. Start thinking about what our faith
traditions say about the land and soil. How does place relate to the great
faith traditions? Is land holy or sacred? What are we called upon to do?

Planning will soon be underway and we invite you to participate at a deeper
level this year. Festival 2010 will be a richer experience for us all if
you do. Please call the CIR offices at 502-583-3100, or email me directly
at stewart at interfaithrelations.org to discuss how you can become a Festival
volunteer.

Happy Holidays,

Stewart Lussky
Interim Executive Director
Center for Interfaith Relations
